I hope this doesn't get me banished from 360plex, but I really like Little Big Planet.  I didn't expect to like it, and I didn't buy into any of the hype coming out of E3 or other game shows, but now I see why it won so many people over.  It's such a pleasant surprise.  And let's focus on the word 'pleasant.'  The game is CHARMING.  I had a smile on my face the whole time when I was playing it, even when I was having troubles with an area or two.  It has personality to spare, and it's easy to play.  The developers (Media Molecule) didn't have to 'reinvent the wheel' either.  They just took the standard platforming of something like Super Mario Brothers and gave the player control of the environments, but what they did works very well.  And the online capabilities!  I spent hours just surfing along other people's creations, and the level of imagination out in the community is ASTOUNDING.  The user feedback interface is fantastic as well.  My only complaint about the game overall is that the jumping isn't as precise as I'd like.  But I'd consider this a small nitpick, and since I still play a lot of N+, it's probably not fair to even complain about.  :)  Essentially, if you own a Sony Blu-Ray player ... ERRRRR, I mean a PS3, you should give it a rent at the very least.

As for Microsoft, you guys could stand to learn a thing or two from your competition when it comes to 'family-friendly' game development.  How's that purchase of Rare treating you?  I doubt Banjo Nuts and Bolts will help either.  You priced it at $39.99.  Is that an admission of the level of quality?  Or are you trying to under-cut the competition?  I'd gladly pay twenty dollars more to play something like LBP.  Now granted, I'm going to put many more hours into Gears of War than I will LBP, but MS is starved to grab that 'family-friendly' gamer.  And yet, the Viva Pinata franchise has mostly been a flop, and hasn't gained them any real market share.  This is what tends to happen when you buy a developer who fluked into a couple of hits back in the N64 days.  The N64 already had the family gamer built-in, and Rare didn't bring any families to the hardware that weren't already there.  And what was the first Rare title on Xbox?  Grabbed by the Ghoulies.  Yeah, that should've been a big hint.  C'mon Microsoft.  I'm still a fanboy, but you need to find a way to stop Sony and Nintendo from eating your lunch when it comes to family gaming.

P.S. Speaking of Viva Pinata:  Hey Gunnz!  I played your LBP level.  Dude!  It's HARD.  This ain't N+!   :)

Cool. And thanks. Look forward to seeing what you create! And who knows? Maybe I'll get a little crazy and make a level too. I'm not the 'creative' type, but we'll see.

I haven't seen any user maps yet on FC2. How long does it take to download them? That was one thing I hated about the first one. It took 10 or 15 minutes to download. Then again, I had a slower internet connection back then too. smile

@ Lord Bling - I definitely agree with you on LBP. The game is just fun to play, period. If you are into the level creation, be prepared to loose a lot of time creating, decorating, play testing, and finally publishing your work. If you aren't into the level creation, no worries. The community has already shown the ability to create some great levels of their own, some even rivaling the story levels that were created by the developers themselves. Bling is right, you can spend countless hours surfing the community levels. With even a modest number of community created levels, there will be more than enough content available to keep you and your sack busy for quite a while. This is only the beginning and I can't wait to see what this game "evolves" into. This is just a game that you MUST experience whether you are into platforming or not!

I do want to get my hands on the game. It will be a refreshing break from all the shooters out there. The community aspect of the game is what has me most intrigued.
